Portraits to relish

Portraits to relish and cherish..!

01

It is something to relish and cherish…

A family portrait photography shoots on the location. The location is a horse riding training school. This is my second visit to the same location (earlier I had done an assignment for a client manufacturing horse riding outfits for jockeys). The subjects were a mix of elderly persons, young parents, kids, horses, dogs and other animals. A small family portrait with a challenging scope for photography. Well within Chennai city limits on OMR, the backdrops were the horse riding fields, artistic built cottages with a perfect countryside feel.

The light was very tricky…patches of highlights and shadows everywhere, I managed to balance the daylight with my Elinchrom Ranger outdoor flash units. I was using my 24-70mm and 70-200mm f/2.8 lenses on my full frame camera for the shots. The whole family with kids and animals was a challenging shot. Subjects in different sizes, colours, textures, behaviours, expressions and moods made the job very tough. The two-hour portrait photography task was a different experience as usual.

Except for few elders, my subjects were freely moving and out of my control most of the time.

Framing them into a portrait picture was truly exciting. It is the kind of experience that keeps me going for years and gives me the satisfaction all through my career as a professional photographer..!

Getting the details in every bit of the portrait to keep it live for generations and find a place on my client’s important walls is what I look for while shooting professional portraits. Digital noise, sharpness, exposure, true colour, camera shake, candidness and artistic composition are something I take control while shooting. Of course, the image editing and effects are something equally important and taken care in all my portrait shots.

Most of my portrait photography ends up in large size prints and displayed. It is needless to say in ‘Chennai Portrait Photography’, we take total control of photography till a portrait is printed and framed. We do not believe in dumping all the images shot (irrespective of its quality) into the client’s computers. But, we give very limited professional quality fine images based on the package chosen.

A professional portrait photography is not a joke; it is something well documented for a lifetime. It is not like a casual selfie we click without care, but something you do it with a lot of care and perfection. Let our clients remember us though their portrait pictures.

“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on the image sensor is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” – Aaron Siskind.
